One person has been killed and four others injured in a series of shootings in Kansas City, Missouri, USA. Among the injured is an Uber driver who was transporting supporters of the Argentina national football team.

Police stated that a 22-year-old suspect involved in the incident is still at large. He is considered armed and extremely dangerous.

Locally, on Tuesday (June 16), between 6 PM and 6:30 PM, five separate shooting incidents occurred within an approximately five-mile radius of the city. Three of these incidents took place on Interstates-70 and Interstates-670. The locations were at least four miles away from Arrowhead Stadium, where the match between Argentina and Algeria was held.

Two supporters told Argentine media outlet La Nacion that while they were heading towards the stadium in an Uber, a car drove past them and fired two shots. The Uber driver was shot in the leg. Initially, they thought it was a tire blowout, but later understood the true nature of the incident upon seeing the driver’s injury.

Police later took them to the station for their statements and, for safety reasons, transported them to the stadium in a patrol car. Police reported that the Uber driver’s injury is not serious and he is out of danger.

According to police information, the vehicles involved in the three highway shootings were traveling eastbound. The other two incidents occurred on Truman Road, a main city street.

Three adults and one teenager were injured in the incidents and admitted to the hospital. Police stated that one of the injured is in critical condition.

Around 6:30 PM, police responded to a report of a car crashing into a pole on Truman Road. After the driver was taken to the hospital, doctors identified gunshot wounds on his body. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Police officer Jacob Becchina stated that all victims reported being shot at while driving on roads or highways.

Investigators believe that the same individual may be involved in these shootings, which occurred within a short time frame.

Subsequently, police identified the suspect’s location in a house in the suburb of Independence and conducted a raid. However, upon entering the house around 8 AM on Wednesday, he was not found.

Meanwhile, Kansas City, Kansas police have also issued a separate arrest warrant against the individual for an illegal weapons use incident on June 11.
